K to the La-La

Self-Psychoanalysis? Of course! I'm still figuring out who I am.

Obligatory Update

I only just remembered I have this blog, because Jess hosts her Bloodborne Pathogens webcomic here... and I was like, "Oohhhhh, yeah..."

I still live in Waltham and still work at A.R.T. I'm a real employee with benefits on a term contract through May and I basically serve as the assistant to the charge artist, Jerry. I still build from time to time and I'm usually called upon for show load-ins. I've recently applied to Boston University's MFA in Scene Design program. But I'm still waiting to hear back from them. They're supposed to be interviewing this month--and now that almost half the month has passed, I'm feeling more and more nervous. I'm currently "enrolled" in a program at the Boston Architectural College to get a Certificate in Design Computing (aka. AutoCAD). I aced my first class no problem and it was a lot of fun, so I decided to go on. My second class will be starting toward the end of this month. Yay! I'll be moving soon (as long as I don't have any financial disasters to prevent it) into a bigger place, hopefully with a real bathroom and real kitchen. I may have friends from back home coming to visit in May, so I want to have space for them to stay over!! Socially, I still only know A.R.T. theatre folk. I joined a bowling league in Lowell with Tedford, York, and this year's intern Andrew! It's been really fun and I even splurged and bought us all bowling shirts with our names embroidered on them. :-)

I can't think of anything else terribly exciting to mention. I think most folks who would find me on this site also know about my LiveJournal, which I write in all the time.

I forgot I even had this thing!

Yeah, so I forgot about this blog... I write in my LiveJournal constantly, so I guess I never felt the need to keep this up. So a lot has happened, haha... like my entire senior year of college, senior thesis angst, Spring Break in Disneyland, graduation, and moving to Boston for an internship in the scene shop at American Repertory Theatre. That's the year in a nutshell. I've been in the Boston area since June and I'll be here until at least May 2007--perhaps longer depending on whether the scene shop hires me on as a real employee or if I decide to go to Brandeis for grad school. The last time I wrote in this blog, I was geeking out about my huge apartment in Salem... now I live in a room about the size of that apartment's bathroom and the washer/dryer closet put together. For twice the cost. But I'm having a hell of a good time on the East Coast! There's so much to see. I always have Friday through Sunday off from work, so that gives me three days every weekend for Boston adventures.

I probably won't write in this blog often, but I'll definitely be checking in more often now that I know both Sam and Adam are hanging around this site. :-)

Apartment!

Well, it's been a long time since I wrote in this blog! A lot has happened. School is out for the summer, and Sheena and I are staying in an apartment in Lancaster Commons. I posted pics on my LiveJournal today: http://www.livejournal.com/users/krktheartist/193100.html

I'm working for the university's summer paint crew, fixing up all the dorms. I've been working in S.A.E. the entire time! It smells so bad in there... But they've had me working restoring the graphics in the hallway.

Existing

I am in the theatre make-up room on my laptop. Well, not ON my laptop. I'm using my laptop. :-) I'm sure I'd crush the poor thing if I were on it.

Anyway, boredom is killing me. All I do is help Lesli put on some cut make-up before the show, make Kurt into a woman after the prologue, help Lesli de-dirtify between Act I and II, then wait around until the end of the show to help Kurt get all his make-up off again.

God, I hate being in this room with all these mirrors. I could hang out in the costume shop or the green room, but I find the most solitude here in the make-up room. *Looking at self in the mirror* My hair is getting long again. I don't even have bangs now... the layers have grown so long. I've been wanting to cut it off to make it more manageable, but now I feel like just letting it grow. I miss putting it up in a ponytail.

Okay yeah, I'm blabbering. I'm done now.

Working Away from Sanity

You KNOW you're busy when the only time of day you are free to check e-mail and eat is after 1:00 am. Just look in the backseat of my car. It's a graveyard of empty pop cans and various fast food wrappers because I have to multitask and eat whilst driving. *Pats belly* Thank heaven for Taco Bell being open late.

I stayed in the theatre until 1:00, trying to help Jess out by hanging some more twinkle lights for her. But unfortunately, after an hour of just replacing gaff tape with nails to hold the strands up, I found myself getting a little loopy. My thought processes were definitely not normal. And since it's not all that smart to be up in the lift alone in the middle of the night, I called it quits.

Tomorrow is going to suck. No classes because of Student Scholarship Recognition Day, but I've already sold my soul to Harris, plus I have to go play in a band thing at 4:30. Then once again, it's make-up time with Kurt for rehearsal. I love Kurt, haha. I get to make him into a woman. Yay!

Okay, yes, sleep, now.

A New Toy

Well I couldn't help myself. Even though I love my LiveJournal with every fiber of my being, I felt compelled to get a blog... mainly so I don't have to post as "anonymous" every time I want to comment on Sam's entries! :-) Anyway, it's always fun to set things like this up. Another distraction. Another outlet. I've already got my krktheartist LJ, my socialsolitude LJ (for cataloging my weird dreams), and now this... what shall I write in it?

We shall see... Maybe I'll get all creative and philosophical.

Probably not. ;-)
